About Me

I always grew up active, but never participated in any kind of distance running. In fact, you could find me hiding out in the long jump area of track practice my 8th grade and Freshman year...getting scolded for missing out on the running. I have always loved to run, often going out for short runs around the block to burn energy as a child, but I never enjoyed the feeling of pushing myself too hard. That feeling where you can't feel your legs and you are on the edge of throwing up and everything BURNS. I love and hate that feeling now. My Dad and I ran our first 5ks in 2011 at the age of 20 (me) and 49. I think we finished in 28 minutes, and don't have a picture to prove it since we didn't own smart phones! I almost threw up. For a long time I didn't push myself out of that comfort zone, and I didn't think I was capable of any more. Finally I learned to apply myself and learned to embrace the good pain to see improvement.
